Lush or not fussed?

I have only recently gotten into buying products from Lush.
Yes I am aware that I have jumped on the bandwagon a little late, but in reality I never really bothered to go inside the store until I tried one of their facemasks. But my addiction as gone on as most of the stuff I use now is from Lush. Maybe its the novelty of using it, or maybe its the quality or maybe its the fact that more than 50% of the products are ethically friendly and vegan (I am not vegan but I don't like using chemicals in my skin etc..)? I am not sure as I have only used it for about 8 months or so.

Current favourites are all listed below, each for their own reasons.

1. Dark Angels cleanser. RRP £5.95.
I have pretty terrible skin due to my hormone levels, I get breakouts, dryness, oily T Zone and its all sensitive at the same time. I wanted to try something a bit stronger for my skin as a cleanser because I had heard that this cleanser would be suitable for my condition. This definitely helped with my oily skin and left it soft and supple, the only problem I had was that it left the sink basin very messy as it was made from charcoal. I would probably not be buying this again for some time as I like to try different cleansers. But all in all a good product, takes forever to finish though! I like the smell of it too.

2. New Solid Shampoo Bar. RRP £5.00
I have lost a lot of hair due to my hormonal changes and problems and well because of straightening my hair so much. It falls out constantly and because of this I had not heat styled my hair in absolutely forever! (By this I mean about 2 years). Anyway my Lush girl told me that this shampoo was good to stop my hair from falling not regrowth although she tried to tell me that regrowth would happen eventually. Anyway I really wanted to try out the solid shampoos as they sounded quite cool to me. So I bought New shampoo bar and in all honesty I love the smell, as it contains cinnamon and clove. My hair did feel quite waxy after using it but after it had dried the effect was clear, my hair wasn't as dull it was shiny and healthy. And for a while my hair stopped falling out! These solid shampoo bars last you FOREVER and they lather up quite well too, I mean REALLY well. I would probably say that the New bar is more for specialist hair but Lush have a variety of solid shampoos that would suit everyone. Not to mention how they are so good for travel purposes, just add them in a shampoo bar tin and you are ready to go. I was impressed with this but most of it had melted away as I forgot to remove it from my shower for a couple of days whilst it was in the tin. :(

3. Jungle Solid Hair Conditioner. RRP £2.95
As I was as curious with the shampoo bars I was as curious with conditioners. My lush girl said that this was a good basic all round conditioner so I had to try it. I will admit I was sceptical but boy was I wrong. If there is anything you buy from this list to test out its this conditioner. I loved the smell and the result. It left my hair soft, smelling great and detangled. I used this with the New Solid Shampoo bar and it was a perfect combination. It doesn't last as long as the shampoo bars but still got through about 30 odd washes I think. So not bad and worth the money! I loveee this so much and this has been my favourite Lush product. I would recommend this for all of those with slightly dry hair who need it to shine. I would say that this needs to be kept in a tin and its better to add a little water to make it into a paste for it to work properly. But the smell lingers on after you come out of the shower so it is AWESOME!

4. Sweetie Pie Shower Jelly. £5.95 for 240g
This was one of the first things I got given to me from a friend about 4 years ago. I had the christmas edition shower jelly and they like so much fun. Anyway this jelly was another present from a friend and I love it! Ok they can be hard to handle what with the texture and all that, but the smell is fantastic and it lathers up pretty well. I think these are the best thing for kids (me being one of the biggest kids of course). Everyone should have a shower jelly this one smells like candy floss and sweeties, so basically all the stuff I loved as a kid! :D

5. Cupcake Fresh Face Mask. RRP £5.50
This was not the first face mask that I tried but it is one of my favourites. I think its best suited for my skin...as it says on the lid haha. But I like the smell and texture of this mask. It definitely made me skin feel cleaner and refreshed. It feels like a spa mask with the Cocoa and peppermint and the butter is nourishing. Now as it is a fresh mask it only lasts a month or so, so you have to keep it in the fridge and make sure that you use it up or it goes off. Mine lasted about 4 or 5 tries which I think is good and worth the money! If you have acne prone skin then I would say that you should try this out.

6. Stepping Stone Foot Scrub. £2.80 for 60grams
I have a low tolerance for summer because it takes a lot out of my feet, I suffer from athletes foot from time to time and its pretty horrible. And it does not help that I don't care much for my feet either. But I came across this scrub whilst on holiday in Dubai. It was so hot there and my feet were as dry as ever. So I went into my local lush store paid 3 times as I should have done for stepping stone but it was worth it! My feet were soft, moisturised and fresh. The citrus elements of this scrub take away the dirt and smell whilst the jojoba oil leaves them soft and supple. This scrub was my saviour in Dubai and this will be one of my summer essentials from now on. You only need a small amount with a small amount of water and the best way to store this is in a tin as it can break down easily with too much water. Again it is a good product and I would tell all my friends to invest in it.

7. Tea Tree Water. RRP £3.75 for 100g
The main reason I bought this was because of the aftermath of my holiday in Dubai. My skin was inflamed and I had spots EVERYWHERE due to the heat. I am not used to visiting such a hot country so my skin broke out and looked terrible. I like this water but in all honesty I picked up the wrong one! I wanted to try the Rose water but for some reason I got this one without looking at is...how silly of me. Anyway I like the tea tree its refreshes my skin and made it feel cleaner. It did help in reducing the spots I had as souveniers from Dubai so I thought I would include it here. I will be interested to see how the other toners work as I saw results from this one!

So that is my take on Lush Products at the moment, I have many things from their collections I want to cover but that will be for next Month I guess. I tend to buy their limited edition things which some of them I have yet to try but I will get round to it as the colder months are approaching and that means nice baths!

Question of the day.
Do you have a favourite Lush Product? If so why?
OR
Do you not believe the hype around Lush? If so why?

  1. Lush originally used to give me a headache when I went into their stores, it was such an overwhelming array of smells. Ha! But I do like it there.

I like sexy underwear for body powder, any of the bath ballistics and bath bars. Love Ma Bar a lot! Also I like Honey I Washed The Kids soap because it was a soap that didn't dry out my skin like every other hard soap known to man. ;)

I want to try some of their scrubs, have you tried any full body ones? Also I now want to try out the hair shampoo. Lately I've noticed my hair seems to be falling out quite a bit. Just when I brush it's noticeable. So I shall add this to my wish list! :3

Great post! (you should cross-post it to LJ!)
